"Globalization and Localization" Workshops

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will be divided into three parts. The first part will be composed of lectures on localization delivered by prominent experts on this area of translation studies. Invited guests and presented subjects:

  • dr Carmen Mangiron (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) – Game localization: current trends and new developments
  • dr Magdalena Dombek (Lionbridge Poland) – Crowdsourcing Translation the Facebook Way
    – The Impact of Technology on the Contributors’ Motivation
  • Tabea de Wille MA (University of Limerick) – Quality: perspectives and strategies for localization
  • dr David Filip (ADAPT Research Centre – Trinity College Dublin) – XLIFF 2.1 and how to use it
  • Anca Marica (Ubisoft) – Challenges of localizing video games
  • Denis Ulybin (Anakan GmbH) – Some common issues in localizing AAA gaming titles

After the lectures, a panel discussion with entrepreneurs and representatives of Polish localization companies is planned to take place. The guests will discuss the expectations and challenges related to localization projects and business management in the localization market. Invited guests include representatives of such companies as, LocWorks, ST Gambit, GetResponse and Bosch Group.

They will also share their knowledge and experience related to localization projects during the last, practical part of the workshops. The participants will have the opportunity to improve their professional skills and learn more about:

  • software localization (dr Agenor Hofmann-Delbor –
  • large localization project management (Martyna Wojtaś – GetResponse)
  • challenges faced by the entrepreneurs operating in the localization market (Dawid Dorynek
    – Bosch Group), and
  • board games localization (Piotr Burzykowski – LocWorks).

NOTE: Number of seats during the practical part is limited.
