The Translation Laboratory Student Research Group (formerly: Literary Laboratory) was established in October 2009 at the Institute of English and American Studies. The Group is formed by students who are interested in various aspects of literary and audiovisual translation. During our regular meetings, we discuss topics not only related to translation problems, but also – or even primarily – to English literature, cinema and theatre.

In the academic year 2012/2013 we cooperated with the Centre for Translation Studies and together organised open translation workshops (children’s literature and technical texts), workshops on translation criticism, and the next edition of “Transfantastica” (a panel of lectures and practical classes with some of the most prominent Polish authors and translators of fantasy).

Currently, we are preparing an anthology of dying speeches delivered in England in the 16th and 17th century.
